As a fragrance, Black Afgano aims to evoke a feeling of temporary bliss, a short escape from reality. Made up of the highest-grade hashish and oud, it is dark, hypnotic and completely addictive. Dense, rich, almost sticky, Black Afgano is gently smoky and intoxicatingly resinous.
Inspired by the ritual of smoking hash – lighting up, inhaling and exhaling – and the brain-dissolving, euphoric drowsiness that follows. Afghani Black Hash is famous for being especially potent, popularised by the hippies of the 60s and 70s.
The caps of the Black Afgano bottles are made of burnt oak, made to look like the charcoal that sits on top of a shisha pipe.

HOW IT WEARS
Black Afgano opens with a blast of smoke, like a fire that’s just been put out. The sticky hash then comes through, and as it settles, the smoother, sweeter notes begin to appear. The dry down reveals ambery notes, oud and sweet tobacco notes. Rich without being overwhelming, Black Afgano is one of the longest lasting Parfums we have encountered, it will easily last 10+ hours on the skin, and even longer on clothes and hair!

This is the kind of fragrance that leaves a trail that will have people do a double take and stop you to ask what you’re wearing – seriously, we can say this from experience! Black Afgano takes us to a bohemian house, decorated with ornamental rugs and velvet floor cushions. There hash is smoked out of huge, elaborate hookahs. Incense burns in the background as dates are snacked on and dark roasted coffee is sipped before total bliss is succumbed to.
ABOUT THE BRAND
Nasomatto, meaning “Crazy Nose” in Italian, is the brainchild of Alessandro Gualtieri, aka The Nose. The house was established in 2007 by Gualtieri as a desperate outburst after being restricted by the marketing regulations and trend forecasts imposed on him by the commercial multinational companies he had previously worked for.
Therefore, each Nasomatto fragrance is an uninhibited, personal, artistic expression of Gualtieri’s. The Nose doesn’t believe in the olfactory pyramids, neither does he want to reveal the ingredients he uses. He wants those who smell his fragrances to be able to interpret scent in their own way, unencumbered by preconceived notions or biases, giving them the freedom to forge their own olfactory image.
“I start making something but at a certain point it starts making choices by itself. It is the process that interests and guides me. I like the feeling that I’m losing control and I’m not the one making the choices. My involvement is to create something that is alive that will be able to say new things.
