Part of the “Talismania Collection’, a collection of olfactive talismans inspired by heroes, adventurers, and mythical figures. Inspired by the Maritime Spice Road trail, the extraordinary treasures found and particularly the exotic spices found in Zanzibar. Idole de Lubin is an ode to the adventurous spirit and the fearless desire for new excitement – particularly those that have come before us. A fusion of the finest ingredients found along this exotic trail. The spices from Zanzibar warm up a refined leather note, the woody liquor is rich and indulgent as the ceremony begins. Around this idol, the mute and hieratic figure of Nubian divinity, bark is being burnt and resins grilled. Painted bodies get carried away dancing. The scent is nirvana.

HOW IT WEARS
Deep, earthy and boozy, we get a deliciously alluring 8 hours of wear out of this fragrance. Initially we get a fresh, aromatic (slightly boozy) opening – the warm gourmand notes developing into a richer and more complex scent over time. With the dry down, it’s projection will settle, but Idole never loses its voice and stays firmly present on us.

We also love that Idole de Lubin is a reinterpreted scent from Lubin’s vault – a fragrance Lubin originally created in 1962 given a makeover by one of the greats in the world of perfume noses – Olivia Giacobetti.

ABOUT THE BRAND
Born in 1774, Pierre-Francois Lubin lived in a period thought to be the most eventful in France’s history. He began his career as a perfume apprentice at the age of 10 to the famous Jean-Louis Fargeon in 1784. During this time under Fargeon’s tutelage, Lubin came to be entrusted with the beauty recipes of the French Royal Court. Fargeon came from a dynasty of expert perfumers and was Marie Antoinette’s official fragrance supplier. Renowned as the ‘holder of the secrets of beauty of the old court of France’ and thanks to his illustrious patronage, Lubin became the favourite perfumer of many European Courts. In 1821, he became the appointed official supplier of the King of England George IV. Then, in 1823 perfumer to the great Tsar of Russia Alexander I.
